| My friend Diame and I during November's full moon kayak tour. |
A MUST do. It was such a unique, humbling experience to be out on the water with nothing but moon light. We weren't lucky enough to see dolphins or manatees on our tour (they're known to pop-up), but we did see an amazing shooting star and some flying fish.
Notes
You WILL get a little wet, primarily your legs as you row. If you have water resistant clothes, wear them. Perhaps bring a towel or a sweat shirt and water. You'll be rowing for about two hours or so before you go cove-side for S'mores and a bonfire.
The tour is $40 ($25 if you have your own kayak) and worth every penny. Parking is additional (between $4-$6, depending on car occupancy). For more information, visit friendsofoletariverstatepark.org/events/full-moon-kayak-tour-and-bonfire-party.

How was the view?
ReplyDeleteI did kayaking once and it was once. Nothing to see though - was a river without view. Haha

Oleta flows in and out of the bay, so we were able to see the condominiums and much of the skyline. The moon over the water just makes everything look much more magical; it literally makes the water twinkle while you're in it. Since the park does not have lighting during the evening, the full moon really shines. Every now and then we'd stop rowing to take in the view; it's not something you get to enjoy everyday.
